Montreal, August 15, 2007 – Last August 13th, under sunny skies, golfers got together at the prestigious St-Raphaël Golf Club for the 4th Desjardins golf tournament benefiting the Auberges du cœur Foundation and held during the Montreal Desjardins Open.
Pierre Moran, Senior Vice-President, Consumer Market Group at Fédération des caisses Desjardins and honorary chair of the tournament, was extremely proud to hand over a cheque for $250,000 to the Auberges du cœur Foundation.
“Once again, the Desjardins team worked hard to ensure the unparalleled success of this tournament and we are extremely grateful. Other major partners also greatly contributed to the tournament’s success. These included Bell, IBM, Nortel, Re/Max, CMHC and many others.
To date, the Desjardins Golf Tournament has raised $768,000 for troubled and homeless youth of the Auberges du cœur’s 20 shelters.
Every year, some 3,500 disadvantaged and homeless youth come to the Auberges du coeur shelters located in 11 regions of the province. Troubled youth are greeted there year-round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Other than food and board, the Auberges du cœur provide young people between the ages of 12 and 30 with a place where they can learn and access the resources they need to get their lives back on track and give their dreams a chance to bloom…
