Youth who come to us make it through!
Every year, some 3,500 troubled and homeless youth come to one of the 30 Auberges du coeur shelters located in 11 regions of the province. Youth are greeted there year-round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. While the shelters are independent bodies, they are motivated by the same objective: to help young people enhancing their level of well-being and give them access to acceptable living conditions by accompanying them in their journey toward greater independence.
The Auberges du cœur are places where young people can learn, grow and express themselves. They are also places where they have a chance to get their lives under control and pursue their dreams.
In short, the Auberges are places where the idea of responsibility takes on its full meaning. The shelters have a responsibility toward the young people who stay there, while young people have a responsibility toward themselves, their peers and their community.
Over the past 30 years, the Auberges du cœur, which serve a clientele between the ages of 12 and 30, have developed widely recognized expertise. The shelters offer their youth clientele food and board, but also services that reflect a solid experience in youth intervention, not to mention the support of qualified teams of youth workers. When they knock at the door of one of our shelters, each young person is sure to find:
The Auberges du cœur attempt to provide these young people without roots a place where they belong - a place where they feel recognized and accepted for who they are.
In brief:
The help you give these young people is their springboard toward independence
The Auberges du cœur provide more than food and board. In fact, they have developed a wide range of services to help young people make it through:
All these initiatives and many others help young people to pursue the work they began at the shelters.
The solidarity of the business community, general public and media is helping us to develop a wide range of projects to give these young people the tools they need to make it through.
